Upsetting Forgings are widely used in modern metal forming industries due to their ability to enhance the strength and structural integrity of metal components. The upsetting forging process works by compressing the length of a metal bar or rod so that its diameter increases, allowing material to accumulate in a specific area and form a desired shape.
During production, heated metal stock is placed between specially designed dies, and powerful mechanical force is applied along the axial direction. As the metal flows under pressure, the material is reshaped without removing mass, resulting in components with refined grain structure and improved mechanical properties.
Because the metal fibers remain continuous through the deformation process, upsetting forgings provide superior strength compared with cast or welded parts. This makes them highly suitable for components that must withstand heavy loads, repeated stress, or demanding operational environments.
